It was a normal day in Minecraft. I was trying to find a woodland mansion, as none of my cartographers would sell me a map for one--I had gone over 30,000 blocks away from my house with no luck.

I had climbed a pretty steep mountain, and I was standing on top of it, scouting the area and preparing to glide off with my elytra.

That's when I saw something strange. Something really, really strange.

It was...a tree, I guess. I don't even know what you would call it. More like a tower of trees, one planted on top of another, going as far up as the build limit, maybe higher. It contained every tree in the game. I could see acacias, jungle trees, dark oak trees, birch trees, everything. It was far away, but I could clearly see that it was about 30-40 blocks in diameter. And there were diamond blocks scattered around within it, which made me pretty happy since I had been running low on diamonds.

I prepared to take a screenshot of it, but as it was becoming night, I wanted to make sure there were no mobs behind me--after all, it was a pretty tall mountain, and I didn't want to take the fall damage if something knocked me off.

So I turned around...and..there was something there. Someone. A few blocks behind me, looking down the mountain, seemingly uninterested by me. The player was angled so I could only see its side, but as I moved a little, I could see that it was my player. My skin. It was..me. A clone of me.

I was freaked out. Without thinking, I sprinted at the thing, jumped, and tried to land a critical hit on it. But as soon as I made contact with the entity, my game glitched and I immediately got a death screen. I don't remember exactly what it said, but I think it was something like "<my name> was killed trying to hurt something she was too scared to approach in the Nether"

Now, I didn't remember seeing this thing in the Nether. I had no idea what it was supposed to mean. Yeah, I probably would have run away if I had, but I was startled and acted out of instinct.

I don't know what the tower of trees had to do with anything, but I am frustrated that I never took a screenshot of it.

I was too far away from my base to remember the coordinates or want to travel back to them. My world was the same after that, and nothing odd has happened since.

So I guess, if you ever see a clone of yourself..don't approach it.
